Islamabad, Dec.1 (ANI): Blaming the current chaous in South Asia on the international community, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said Pakistan should not be portrayed as a ‘war zone’.
“Pakistan should not be portrayed as a war zone. When the Soviets marched into Afghanistan, a broad alliance was formed against that invasion. We were part of this international alliance,” said Gilani, in an interview ahead of his Germany visit.
“But after the (Soviet) war was over, the world did not care for our region any longer. And the militants advanced into the vacuum. That is the problem we have to fight with till this day. It was forced upon us,” he added.
Underlining that Pakistan was fighting the menace of terror, which was forced upon it, Gilani said the outcome of the conflict is not only important for the region, but for the whole world.
“It is not only decisive for the future of Pakistan or Asia but for the future of the whole world,” The News quoted Gilani, as saying.
“We are doomed to succeed,” he added.
Responding to a question that whether Islamabad has any evidence against India regarding the latter’s involvement in Baloch insurgency, Gilani said: “I don’t say that there is evidence. But many experts have analyzed the revolt already, like American think tanks, and they mention strange involvements”.
He stressed that despite the fact the Taliban and other extremist groups striking continuously, terror was no issue in ‘large part’ of the country.
“Despite all these things, terrorism is no topic in large parts of the country. We care for the security of workers and employees, we care for our immigrants for other countries, among them are many engineers,” the Prime Minister said. (ANI)
