Islamabad, Dec 24 (IANS) Privately-owned Pakistani news channel Geo TV Wednesday inexplicably failed to air a programme containing “stunning revelations” on the assassination a year ago of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in a gun and bomb attack in which the Taliban is said to have had a role.Titled “Geo Investigates”, the programme was to be telecast at 6.05 p.m. and was to feature expert comments on and analysis of the mysterious circumstances under which Bhutto was assassinated at Rawalpindi’s Liaqat Bagh Dec 27, 2007.
Geo TV officials were not immediately available for comment nor was there any posting on its website as to why the show was not aired.
“The viewers would surely know stunning revelations about some hidden facts linked with the tragedy,” The News daily, which is part of the group that includes Geo TV, had reported Wednesday morning.
“The two-time prime minister, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had a charismatic personality. Even her staunch political rivals admitted that she was a woman of international stature. Her death has deprived the nation of a leader who was capable of improving the country’s image in the comity of nations,” The News noted.
