New York, Oct.30 (ANI): Former Pakistan Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Chaudhary Aitzaz Ahsan has asked former President General Pervez Musharraf to return back to the country and fight the legal cases filed against him in various courts.
Speaking at a function hosted in his honour by Pakistani American lawyers here, Ahsan offered to buy a return ticket for Musharraf and said the former general should avoid irresponsible statements while sitting abroad.
Ahsan pointed out that perhaps it was Musharraf’s reckless statements, which formed the basis of the harsh conditionalities stitched with the Kerry Lugar bill.
Ahsan said if Musharraf wants he would book his (Musharraf’s) return ticket on the same flight which he is taking back to home, but added that he would never represent the former dictator, who is currently on a lecture tour of the US, in a court of law.
“Persons like Sharifuddin Pirzada and Malik Qayyum, who earned crore of rupees from him when he was the president of Pakistan, should contest his case,” The News quoted Ahsan, as saying.
“It is a shame that Musharraf, who arrested 60 judges along with their families, was being greeted by some Pakistanis abroad,” he added. (ANI)
