Five killed, 34 injured in Peshawar blast

Islamabad, Sep 20 (IANS) At least five people were killed and 34 others were injured Monday night in a bomb blast at a market in northwest Pakistan’s Peshawar city.
The explosion occurred around 9.00 p.m.
The bomb was planted on a motorcycle outside a CD shop next to the Nishtarabad road, Xinhua reported citing Geo TV.
The blast damaged about 20 shops.
The injured were shifted to the city’s Lady Reading Hospital. Five of the injured were in critical condition.
Police said about 10 kg of explosives were used in the explosion.
President Asif Ali Zardari has condemned the attack.
Earlier Monday, eight people, including six policemen, were killed in a suicide car bomb attack outside a senior police officer’s house in the southern port city of Karachi.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
