Five Baitullah bombers enter Karachi, warns Pak Interior Ministry
May 7th, 2008 - 5:26 pm ICT by admin ( Leave a comment )Karachi, May 7 (ANI): Pakistan Interior Ministry is learnt to have cautioned the Sindh Home Department about the entry of as many as five members of Baitullah Mehsud group into Karachi to carry out suicide bombings in the city.
Baitullah Mehsud is a tribal leader in the Waziristan region, and is known to have worked with and aided both the Taliban and Al Qaeda, but his primary objective is defending tribal autonomy and territory.
His suicide bombers may target officials and government property of the Port City, said sources.
Federal Interior Ministry has sent a letter detailing the potential threat to the Sindh Home Department, and that the five men have reached Karachi from Wana, Waziristan to carry out suicide bombings, the Daily Times quoted sources as saying.
They could use new technology or methods to carry out their objectives, said the paper.
Sindh Home Minster Arif Khan confirmed the news, saying that this was not the first time this had happened. We receive such letters routinely and take all possible precautionary measures, he said, adding that they did not want to disclose such threats which may create panic among people and hamper the progress of the law enforcement agencies.
