- Islamabad, Dec 15 (ANI): Pakistan’s federal Health Ministry on Saturday confirmed the first case of human fatality by bird flu in the country.
The ministry stated that a man who had died last month in NWFP after culling infected birds at a poultry farm was the country’s first human victim of the bird flu virus, H5N1.
Six people were confirmed to have been infected with the H5N1 strain of avian influenza. While five of them have fully recovered, one of the confirmed cases died in hospital. However the victim’s brother, who could not be tested, has also died, The News reported.
“We are not certain how (the brother) died because we could not conduct his testing,” the spokesman of the Ministry said. (ANI)
