FIA website hacked minutes after Pak accepts role in Mumbai attacks
February 15th, 2009 - 12:53 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment ) Islamabad, Feb.15 (ANI): Attempts were made to hack the official website of the Pakistans Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), minutes after the Pakistan Government acknowledged that part of the attack was planned in Pakistan.
According to The Dawn, the FIA managed to restore its website within 15 minutes.
The FIAs cyber crime wing recorded multiple attempts by unknown hackers to infiltrate just after the Pakistan Prime Ministers Advisor on Interior Affairs, Rehman Malik, disclosed the initial report of the investigating agency on the Mumbai attack.
The origin of the cyber attack on the agency has been located outside Pakistans geographical territory, sources said.
We are vigilant in view of threats from internal and external factors, and have taken adequate measures to foil and track down any hacking attempts, a top FIA official said.
The cyber crime wing of FIA is trying to ascertain whether the attempts were an isolated act or something more serious. (ANI)
