London, Mar.6 (ANI): Even as Pakistani agencies have intensified their operation to locate the kidnapped five-year old British boy Sahil Saeed and looking for leads regarding the involvement of some ‘insiders’, Saeed’s family has rubbished reports pointing fingers towards family members’ role in the abduction.

“That’s totally rubbish. I don’t know who the kidnappers are, I don’t know where they come from,” Saeed’s father Raja Naqqash Saeed.

Saeed was kidnapped on Thursday from his grandmother’s house in Jhelum in Pakistan’s Punjab province when he was about to leave the house with his father for the airport to catch a flight back to London.

The kidnappers have demanded 100,000 pounds as ransom.

At the family’s home in Oldham, Saeed’s great-uncle Matlub Ahmed also rejected reports regarding the involvement of family members.

“The people who did this must have had some information, but that is all.We are all praying to bring that kid back. His mother has been crying all night. So far, we have got no news at all, but one telephone call can change everything,” The Guardian quoted Ahmed, as saying.

It may be noted that Pakistani High commissioner to Britain, Wajid Shamsul Hasan, had pointed towards an ‘insiders’ role in the abduction.

“All our resources are being directed in Punjab. They have arrested a few persons. The initial investigation is also looking at the possibility of a sort of inside job as well. There’s a possibility of someone in the family having some sort of knowledge. The perception is that they had a lot of money, so somebody from inside of the family who is less fortunate might have arranged it,” Hasan had said.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani investigation agencies, which had promised to solve the case within 24 hours on Thursday, still appear to be groping in the dark.

While six to eight persons have been detained for interrogation, nothing substantial has emerged so far.

“We are trying. God willing, we will find a lead. The whole police force is involved. All angles are being explored,” said local police officer in Jhelum, Tahir Bashir.

Police sources said an anonymous call had been made from Spain to a member of the family demanding payment of ransom.

“Maybe in a few days we are trying to get to locate them. Still we have no clue about the boy and the culprits.The hype has created many hitches in our investigations,” said Additional Inspector-General of Police (IGP) (Rawalpindi region) Muhammad Aslam Tareen.

Saeed’s mother is inconsolable, and she has been praying continuously for her little son’s safe return.

Akila Naqqash said she is finding it hard to answer to Saeed’s younger sisters’ enquiries, who keep on enquiring about their brother.

“His little sisters are missing him so much. They are asking, ‘Where is Sahil?’. They keep seeing pictures of him on television. What can I explain to them? They say ‘Oh, there is Sahil, when is he coming back, Mummy?” Naqqash said. (ANI)
