Entire burden on Pak masses as no major political leader pays tax: Imran Khan
January 9th, 2011 - 6:23 pm ICT by ANIKarachi, Jan 9 (ANI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said no major leader of the country pays any taxes, and that the entire burden falls on the masses.
Speaking to the media at Karachi Airport, Imran said the entire nation was facing serious insecurities, while the police was busy protecting only the VIPs of the country.
Earlier, in an exclusive interview with The Nation’s Sunday Plus, Imran termed the present democracy in Pakistan as ’sham’, and said democracy should have brought welfare for the people, but its fruits were never realised by the people of Pakistan, especially the salaried class, labourers and peasants.
Quoting a British Council survey, he said 90 per cent people under the age of 30 wanted a change in the country, and 70 per cent of the country’s population comprised of young people.
Imran said Pakistan’s youth would bring his party to power. The PTI was the only party that had stood for its principles and people trusted it, he said, adding that his party would make coalition with honest people in the next general elections.
Responding to a question how he believed that people would not elect the PPP and PML-N again, Imran said days of these two parties were over, as they had disappointed the masses and now the people wanted to get rid of them.
The people of Pakistan had tested both parties, and most importantly, he said, it would be for the first time that the next polls would be taking place under independent media, while an independent election commission and free judiciary would also ensure transparency in the elections. (ANI)
