Eight killed, 20 injured in Khyber Agency blast
July 16th, 2010 - 5:05 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, July 16 (ANI): At least 10 persons were killed and 20 others injured in a powerful bomb blast that ripped through the Meharban-Kilay Bazaar of Tirah valley in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas’ (FATA) Khyber Agency on Friday.
According to reports, the bomb was planted near a shop which went off killing eight persons on the spot.
Eyewitnesses said that the intensity of the blast was so severe that it demolished a number of houses and shops in the area.
Security forces cordoned off the region soon after the blast and launched a massive search operation to nab the attackers and prevent any untoward incident.
Both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani have condemned the blast, and directed the concerned authorities to facilitate the victims of the blast with best medical treatment. (ANI)
