Dera Ismail Khan blast toll rises to 30

Dera Ismail Khan (Pakistan), Feb. 20 (ANI): Curfew was imposed in Dera Ismail Khan in northwestern Pakistan on Friday after a suicide bomber killed at least 30 people and wounded several others. The dead were part of a Shia Muslims funeral procession, who was shot dead on Thursday. The blast occurred when a funeral procession for a Shia Muslim murdered a day earlier was passing by, The Dawn quoted Syed Mohsin Shah, the area’’s top administrator, as saying. The death toll is expected to rise further, sources at the Dera Ismail Khan’’s main hospital said. We have 20 dead in the hospital and some of the wounded are in critical condition, a police officer said earlier, adding that more than 50 people were being treated for wounds. Police claimed to have found the body parts of the suspected bomber. It’’s a suicide blast. We have found the severed legs of the suspected bomber, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanaullah was quoted, as saying. We have imposed a curfew and called army to quell violence as we fear it could spread to other parts,” top government official in the city, Shah said. (ANI)
