December 30th, 2010 - 1:24 pm ICT by IANSKarachi, Dec 30 (IANS) A 22-year-old man has been awarded the death sentence in Karachi for raping and murdering a four-year-old girl who used to call him “chachu” (uncle). The anti-terrorism court awarded the death sentence to Sher Khan for the attack that took place in July this year.
Investigators found that Khan had killed the girl and dumped her body in a garbage tank, after which he had joined in the search for the girl to avoid suspicion, the Express Tribune reported Thursday.
He later claimed to have discovered the victim’s body and participated in the protest against the crime committed against the girl.
“I was distracted by the devil at that time,” Sher Khan told the police. “I was not thinking of the consequences.”
The police said that the girl knew Sher Khan and she called him “chachu” (uncle). Khan lives in the same street as the victim’s family.
