Islamabad, Mar 18 (ANI): The release of double murder-accused CIA contractor Raymond Davis has paved the way for Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari`s visit to the US, with reports saying that governments of both the countries have now worked out dates and agendas of the meeting.

The Dawn quoted official sources as saying that a day after Davis` release, the Obama administration had asked Pakistan to start working on the date and agenda of the visit.

Farhatullah Babar, the spokesman for the President, said the Foreign Office had starting working on the visit, but “no date has been finalised yet.”

Babar, however, insisted that Zardari’s “visit to the US was not postponed, but rescheduled owing to the Davis issue.”

However, other sources have said the President is likely to visit the US next month, adding: “After the Davis episode, the president`s visit will be of great importance.”

The paper quoted a PPP leader as saying that both the countries are “redefining their relations and it will be up to President Zardari how he pleads Pakistan`s case.” He also said that the agenda of Zardari’s visit would be finalised in consultation with the army General Headquarters.

President Zardari was scheduled to visit Washington early this month, but the controversy related to Davis had soured relations between both countries leading to the postponement Zardari’s visit. (ANI)
