Condom cell phone charms become a rage among Chinese teens
December 28th, 2010 - 5:28 pm ICT by ANINew York, Dec 28 (ANI): High school students in the Nanning region of China have been carrying sexy cell phone charms - individually wrapped condoms.
According to China Hush, the charms are doing brisk business, and the students say they are “fresh” and most importantly, useful for emergency use.
The older generation of Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Province in southern China, were shocked to see young people brazenly showing off their sexuality.
But educators see it as an opportunity for parents and children to talk about sex and not be embarrassed.
“Parents and teachers can also take this opportunity to strengthen sex education, to preach correct and scientific sex knowledge, let kids know the correct use of condoms and how to better protect themselves during puberty,” the New York Daily News quoted Su Chang, Nanning City Next Generation of Educational Research senior psychologist, as saying.
While the charms are cheap at 5 yuan to 20 yuan, many worry the condom is of inferior quality.
“Interesting Imported Condoms” are printed with wacky designs, such as cartoon characters and zodiac signs and a hole for the charm to hang from the cell phone.
But the prophylactics reportedly have no manufacture and expiration dates. (ANI)
