Islamabad, Nov.27 (ANI): Concerned by the verbal warfare between the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), President Asif Ali Zardari has asked the party leaders to avoid giving statements against the MQM.
According to the sources, Zardari called Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Provincial Interior Minister Zulfiqar Mirza and directed them not to make remarks against the MQM.
Meanwhile, Sindh Information Minister Shazia Muree said the PPP believes in political harmony, and that it would continue the reconciliation efforts with the MQM.
“President Zardari is promoting the reconciliation process, however, PPP is not responsible to continue the same all alone,” The News quoted Muree, as saying.
She criticised the MQM leadership for issuing statements against the party leadership, but added that both the parties should work together forgetting all their differences.
Even as Zardari has asked PPP leaders to stop making statements against the MQM, Bilawal House spokesman, Aijaz Durrani attacked the MQM leaders again blaming them for toeing the lines of the ‘dictator’ (former President Pervez Musharraf).
“Some black sheep within Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) are taking dictation from the dictator and conspiring even against their party chief Altaf Hussain,” Durrani said. (ANI)
