Civilian N-technology discussed at US-Pak strategic dialogue: Clinton
October 23rd, 2010 - 1:18 pm ICT by ANIWashington, Oct 23 (ANI): The possibility of providing civilian nuclear technology to Islamabad for meeting the country’s energy needs was discussed between the United States and Pakistan during the latest strategic dialogue, though no decisions have been taken so far in this regard, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said.
Clinton made these comments while addressing a joint news conference with Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi at the end of the three-day strategic talks in Washington, the Dawn reported.
Pakistan’s place on the talks for a future set-up in Afghanistan was also discussed, she said, adding, “We had a very long discussion on Afghanistan”. Referring to media reports claiming that the US had stopped its assistance to some Pakistani military units allegedly involved in human rights violations, Clinton pointed out that US’ law required the administration to take such allegations very seriously “and we follow the law”. Qureshi assured her that Pakistan, too, took such allegations seriously, and informed that a probe had been ordered into the same, “and actions will be taken against those found guilty”. (ANI)
