CIA, provincial govt blamed for Swabi suicide attack targeting Pak politician
March 31st, 2011 - 4:17 pm ICT by ANIQuetta, Mar 31(ANI): The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) has blamed the Awami National Party-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and US’ Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for Wednesday’s suicide attack on a rally, which was to be addressed by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Fazl had a narrow escape yesterday when a suicide bomber blew up his explosives near a police check post in Pakistan’s Swabi district, killing at least seven people- including a policeman- on the spot.
Addressing a rally in Quetta, JUI-F Secretary General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri said that the party would protest demonstrations across the country on Friday to condemn the suicide attack, the Dawn reports.
He also claimed that the drone attack on a tribal peace congregation in North Waziristan Agency on March 17, which killed over 40 innocent people, was carried out with the consent of the government.
The government has given a free hand to the CIA and notorious US security firm Blackwater to target the political forces opposing the drone attacks, he added.
Haidri said that the Swabi suicide attack was an attempt to kill Maulana Fazl because he was exposing the American designs against the country.
He said that such attacks, however, could not force the JUI-F to abandon its struggle against the imperialistic policies of the United States. (ANI)
