Chinese Embassy in Nepal rebuts Tibetan Solidarity Forum statementJune 24th, 2008 - 3:58 pm ICT by ANI
Kathmandu, June 24 (ANI): Rebutting a statement published in a newspaper in Kathmandu that the Chinese Government was responsible for the massacre of 209 Tibetans on March 14 in Lhasa, the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu described it as groundless and deceptive.
The Embassy said the press statement was issued to distort facts. The Tibetans fabricated lies to deceive both Tibetans at home and abroad, instigate ethnic hatred, deceive the general public and defraud virtuous people of sympathy, which is of ulterior motives.
The Embassy stressed that it is known to everyone that the Lhasa riot on March 14 was a criminal act of violence, involving beating, smashing, looting and burning.
It said the riot resulted in the death of 18 innocent people, and injuries to over 300 people. Many schools and shops were also burnt down. Local police exercised great restraint and didn’t carry any lethal weapons when dealing with the riot.
It added, a handful of Tibet independence separatists had sought to disturb and sabotage the Beijing Olympic Games under the instigation of the Dalai clique.
It further said that the Nepal Tibetan Solidarity Forum, which aims at Tibet Independence, attempts to undermine China-Nepal friendly relations by calling itself the “Nepal Tibetan Solidarity Forum”.
Suggesting that its anti-China political activities were aimed at splitting Tibet from China. The Embassy said Tibet is an inalienable part of China’s territory since ancient times, which is a historic fact brooking no denial, and therefore, any attempt to split Tibet from China was doomed to fail.
