China to supply anti-terror equipment to Pak
April 26th, 2008 - 11:51 am ICT by admin ( Leave a comment )Islamabad, Apr 26 (ANI): China will supply anti-terror paraphernalia to Pakistan to help it fight terrorism, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said.
In our discussion China has supported Pakistans decision to buy the equipment. We will further co-operate to firmly deal with terrorism, the Daily Times quoted Qureshi as saying at a joint press conference with the visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.
However, the minister did not specify the type of equipment to be bought from China.
Speaking on the occasion, Chinese minister Jeichi vowed to continue nuclear co-operation with Pakistan. Pakistan has the right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy, and we will continue extending nuclear co-operation to Pakistan, he said.
He further said that China supported Pakistans efforts for social stability and economic development, and vowed to push forward the strategic partnership with Pakistan. The two countries had agreed to increase co-operation in economic, political, defence and cultural sectors, he said and added that China would encourage its companies to invest in Pakistans energy and information technology fields.
Meanwhile, the two countries also agreed to enhance co-operation in the fields of defence, and discussed the five-year economic development plan and identified 61 projects for closer co-operation. (ANI)
