China to boost military ties with Pak
June 26th, 2009 - 5:09 pm ICT by ANIBeijing, June 26 (ANI): In a step further to embolden their military relationship, Chinese Defence Minister, Liang Guanglie met Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, here on Friday.
Guanglie met Air Chief Marshal Suleman, who is currently on a visit to China, and vowed to further strengthen friendship between both countries.
Guanglie said given the change in scenario in the region in recent times, both China and Pakistan must enhance their bilateral relationship.
“China and Pakistan share a comprehensive traditional friendship.China appreciated Pakistan’s strong support on issues concerning China’s core interests. Given the new situation, the China-Pakistan Strategic Cooperative Partnership should be increasingly cherished,” The Xinhua quoted Guanglie, as saying.
He also expressed satisfaction over the increased military ties between Beijing and Islamabad, and said that the co-operation in the field of personnel training, joint military exercises and counter-terrorism must continue.
“China is ready to work with Pakistan to enhance military exchanges and cooperation,” Guanglie added.
Talking to media persons after meeting the Chinese Defence Minister, Air Chief Marshal Suleman said Pakistan is eager to enhance military ties with its ‘traditional friend’.
He added that Pakistan is willing to work with China to boost cooperation in various other fields also. (ANI)
