Kathmandu, Apr 10 (ANI): Former US President Jimmy Carter termed todays election as a groundbreaking event, which is being closely watched by the whole world.
The co-founder of the Carter Center, Jimmy Carter is in Kathmandu on an election observation mission, leading a 60-member team of international election observers.
He said he was truly amazed by the sheer voter turnout at all the polling centres of Kathmandu, and predicted that it would also teach the world a lesson.
I am really very excited by this election. The Nepali people are deciding for their future by participating in the election and expressed confidence that a new Nepal would be formed after it, Nepal News quoted him, as saying.
He said, Sporadic incidents of violence are common during the time of a historic change.
He has already observed 14 of the 25 polling centres he is expected to go to observe in Kathmandu valley today.
Carter Center, the organization he founded along with his wife Rosalynn in 1982 has already observed 70 elections in various countries. (ANI)
