Cameron telephones Gilani

David Cameron Islamabad, May 15 (IANS) British Prime Minister David Cameron Sunday telephoned his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani and appreciated the role played by Pakistan in the war against terror, the prime minister’s office here said.

Cameron assured his country’s full support to Pakistan, Xinhua reported citing a statement.

The British prime minister also condemned the killing of security personnel in a suicide attack in Charsadda Friday.

Two suicide bombers targeted cadets of a paramilitary training school in Charsadda in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province killing 89 people.

He said Britain acknowledges the immense sacrifices made by Pakistan and realises the losses on the Pakistani side.

Cameron informed Gilani that US President Barrack Obama is scheduled to visit Britain next week and that he would convey Pakistan’s point of view to the American leader.

Gilani thanked Cameron for his message and told his British counterpart that his government’s main concern was about the sovereignty of the country.

He reiterated that Pakistan was waging the war on terror in its own national interest and the campaign enjoys full support of the Pakistani public.
