London, Feb.5 (ANI): Heightening the international pressure on Pakistan to bring the perpetrators of the November 2008 Mumbai attack to justice, Britain has asked Pakistan to speed-up its investigations into the matter, and come out with substantial results.
Pakistan must go further and faster in prosecuting those suspected of being involved in Novembers attacks on Mumbai, The Daily Times quoted British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, as saying.
Miliband said that though Pakistan had taken actions against some of the terrorist groups operating from its soil, more firm steps were needed to prosecute the masterminds of the Mumbai carnage.
The absolute priority is for the Pakistani government to go further and faster in turning the detention of those who they believe were associated with the Mumbai bombings into prosecutions, and then if theyre found guilty, punishment, he said.
Miliband added that people in Pakistan also wanted their land to be cleared of the menace of terrorism.
He said that both the political and military leadership in Pakistan wanted an end of terrorism, and the plans are now needed to be transformed into action.
That is the absolute next step, and the sooner that happens, the better, Miliband said. (ANI)
