Blast in northwest Pakistan kills child, injures 11
April 19th, 2010 - 6:36 pm ICT by BNO NewsPESHAWAR, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) — A child was killed and several more were injured after a car bomb explosion outside the Police Public School in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar on Monday, according to television reports.
Geo News Television reported that a boy was killed in the explosion, which happened near a shop that belonged to the school. Eleven others, mainly students at the school, were injured. Eyewitnesses said two vehicles were also destroyed in the blast, according to Ary News.
the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad ’strongly condemned’ the attack. “The deliberate targeting of children makes this terrorist attack particularly reprehensible,” said Richard Snelsire, a spokesman for the Embassy. “We extend our condolences to the victims’ families and friends and hope for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
