Karachi, Nov 26 (ANI): Hinting at forming a possible alliance with her once bitter arch-rival Nawaz Sharif, Chairperson of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Benazir Bhutto, on Monday filed her nomination papers for the January 8 general elections from her ancestral town of Old Larkana.
Bhutto, who had filed another set of nomination papers on Sunday from a central Karachi seat that is reserved for woman candidates, expressed her readiness to forge an alliance with the ‘moderate forces’ in the country.
She welcomed Sharif’s return to the country and said that it would strengthen the ‘democratic and political culture.’
However, she expressed concerns about the fairness of the polls.
“We are concerned that elections will be rigged, but we don’t want to leave the field empty,” she said justifying her decision to contest in the polls. (ANI)
