Lahore, Nov 15(ANI): Jamaat-ul-Dawaa chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed has said that all the central, provincial and zonal office-bearers of the party would celebrate Eid with flood affected people of Pakistan.

Saeed said this during a party meeting held on Sunday, which reviewed the arrangements of sacrificial animals and Eid gifts for the affected people.

During the meeting it was also decided that special Eid dishes would be prepared for people suffering across the country, while new clothes, shoes and food rations would be sent to relief camps, the Nation reports.

“Millions of our brethren affected by the floods are still waiting for our help and on the occasion of upcoming Eid, everyone should do something for them,” Saeed said.

He also said that the JuD would continue its relief activities until all the rehabilitation process is completed.

JuD is a banned Islamic organization that is considered by the United Nations to be an alias of the banned terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The “worst floods in Pakistan’s history”, triggered by torrential monsoon downpours in July, had claimed the lives of over 1,900 people and disrupted the lives of over 21 million people, eight percent of the population.

The floods first struck the western province of Baluchistan on July 22 before inundating the worst-hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and then entering Punjab and Sindh.

It is estimated that over two million homes were damaged or destroyed.

The Asian Development Bank and the World Bank have estimated that the floods inflicted 9.5 billion dollars losses to Pakistan’s economy. (ANI)
