Attention-savvy Sarah Palin keeps stirring presidential run speculations

Sarah Palin Washington, April 19(ANI): Though there is no definitive evidence on whether former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will be running for US President in 2012, her recent activities- her speech over the weekend in Wisconsin, promotion thereof and the re-launch of her official website- suggest that she very much wants to be part of the political conversation.

As has been well documented, Palin reads most everything written about her, so she surely did not miss recent stories about her declining poll numbers and relative quiet, the Politico reports.

For one who relishes the fight and the attention that comes with it, being ignored or written off is far worse than being criticized, it added.

So, while re-stirring speculations about her presidential ambitions, Palin made common cause with Governor Scott Walker, accused her party’s congressional wing of capitulation, and lambasted President Barack Obama at the Tax Day Tea Party Speech in Madison, Wisconsin.

“[T]hey need to learn how to fight like a girl!” she said of unnamed “GOP leaders.”

But as telling as the words was the effort to ensure that the speech drew attention, the report said, adding that this is usually not a difficult task when it comes to Palin, but her loyalists went all-out.

Her aide, Rebecca Mansour, resorted to Twitter in an attempt to promote the speech before and after it took place, while Palin herself took to Facebook and posted a full video and text of the remarks, and also rolled out her new site.

“She wants to keep her supporters involved and ready for whatever her next step is,” her aide Tim Crawford explained.

That may not mean a presidential run for Palin, but she has to at least keep open the possibility for a while to keep attracting the sort of attention she’s used to, the report said.

Although there is no confirmation about her presidential run, to borrow one of Palin’s own favourite formulations, the 2008 Republican Vice-President nominee is not going to “sit down and shut up” anytime soon. (ANI)
