ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) — At least 35 people were killed and 75 others were injured after two suicide bomb attacks in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore on Thursday evening, police said.

The blasts, which happened minutes apart, targeted the shrine of the Persian Sufi saint Syed Ali Hajwairi at Data Darbar in Lahore. Police Commissioner Khusro Pervez confirmed at least 35 people had been killed, while more than 100 others had been injured, including 25 who were in a critical condition.

Pervez said one suicide bomber targeted the gate while a second bomber targeted the central area of the shrine. He said two heads, believed to be those of the suicide bombers, had been found at the scene.

There was also a third explosion, but the cause was not immediately known. Media reports suggested that blast may have been caused by a hand grenade.

On May 28, attacks on mosques in Pakistan left more than 90 people dead.
