Lahore, Jan 5(ANI): Pakistan Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, who was assassinated on Tuesday, was laid to rest at the Cavalry Ground graveyard in Lahore today.
Taseer’s funeral prayer was held amid tight security as Pakistan went on high alert.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and several federal ministers attended the funeral prayer, the Dawn reports.
The 66-year-old was shot dead by his own security guard outside an Islamabad cafe.
Taseer was one of few Pakistani leaders who had the courage to speak against religious extremism and the advancing menace of the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. (ANI)
