Anti-Taliban leader, family killed in Afghan blast

Kabul, Sep 21 (IANS) An anti-Taliban tribal elder and four of his family members were killed in a blast in Afghanistan’s southern province of Uruzgan, Xinhua reported.

Hajji Qader, two children and two women were killed in the attack in Dehrawood district, said provincial government spokesman Abdullah Hemat.

The dead were members of Qader’s family, he said, without giving details.

According to a UN report, in the first six months of 2012, a total of 255 civilians have been killed and 101 injured in 237 target attacks carried out by the Taliban.
