Islamabad, Feb 25 (Xinhua) At least three people were killed and scores injured in northwestern Pakistan Monday on the same day a top ranking military officer was killed in suicide bombing in Rawalpindi, local TV channels reported. Some unidentified attackers launched a hand grenade inside the building of Plan International, a non-government organization in the town of Mansehra in North West Frontier Province Monday afternoon, killing three and inuring several others.
About 20 people were busy with their routine business and most of them trapped inside the building as massive fire broke out after the blast, reports said.
One eyewitness was quoted as saying that three dead bodies could be seen from outside but heavy fire engulfing the building restricted the rescuers.
In Rawalpindi, seven people, including chief of Pakistan Army Medical Corps Lt Gen Mushtaq Ahmed Baig, were killed when an explosives-laden car hit the General’s car resulting in a huge explosion. Baig, his driver and five passer-by were killed while about 30 injured in the blast.
