Ahmadinejad asks Zardari to hand over ‘known terrorists’ to Iran
December 21st, 2010 - 12:54 pm ICT by ANITehran, Dec 21 (ANI): Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has told his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari to arrest and hand over ‘known terrorists’ to Iran.
According to the Iranian president’s office, in a telephone call, Ahmadinejad asked Zardari to order his country’s security forces to quickly arrest known terrorists, and hand them over to the Islamic Republic of Iran, The Nation reported.
“The perpetrators of this act are not only non-Muslims, but belong to no religion,” the website quoted Ahmadinejad, as saying to Zardari.
According to the website, Zardari told Ahmadinejad that Pakistan would not hesitate to help eradicate terrorism.
Meanwhile, Iran hanged 11 people linked to the Sunni rebel group that killed 39 people in a mosque bombing, and an army official urged Pakistan to root out the “terrorists” across the border.
“The people of Sistan-Baluchestan province, in their continuing campaign against the elements of cruelty and insecurity, hanged 11 people at Zahedan prison,” the Justice ministry said in a statement on the semi-official Fars news agency.
It said that those executed were all supporters of Jundollah (Soldiers of God), the group that Iran says is linked to al Qaeda, and which claimed a double suicide bombing of Shia worshippers in the southeastern province bordering Pakistan on December 15.
The mosque bombing in the town of Chabahar, which killed at least 39 and wounded more than 100 people, was the latest action by the hardcore Islamic militant group, which is engaged in activities against Tehran’s Shiite ruled Sistan-Balochistan province bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan. (ANI)
