Peshawar, Oct.25 (ANI): The Afghan Taliban has denied sending reinforcements to Pakistan where their counterparts are engaged in a massive war against the Pakistan Army in South Waziristan.

Afghan Taliban spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousaf Ahmadi called some mediapersons from an undisclosed location and rejected media reports that scores of militants have crossed over to Pakistan from the other side of the border to facilitate the war against the security forces.

“The reports about sending 1,500 fighters to Waziristan to help Pakistani Taliban are totally false and baseless. This is our principle stance not to interfere in the affairs of any country. We strongly reject these reports,” The News quoted Ahmadi, as saying.

Governor of Afghanistan’s Pakitka province, Hamidullah Zwak, has already rejected the reports, saying Afghan and foreign forces have sealed the border with South Waziritan and it was virtually impossible for anyone to sneak into the other side.

The Pakistan Army, last week, launched a massive offensive in South Waziristan with an aim to root out the Taliban from its den. While the security forces have claimed that they have established their control over substantial and are penetrating deeper into the extremist’s stronghold, reports suggested troops were facing stiff resistance from the militants.

According to a detailed briefing on the week-old ground operation by researchers at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), despite repeated claims from the Pakistan Army that it is going to crush the extremists once for all, the insurgents have retaken one large town, targeted military vehicles with roadside bombs and held off the army’s assault helicopters with antiaircraft fire.

It further stated that though the Pakistani Army has a heavy presence in the region, the insurgents have also been able to coordinate suicide bombings and assassinations outside Waziristan. (ANI)
