Adiala Jail security beefed up following Taliban terror spree

Taliban Rawalpindi, Oct. 16 (ANI): In the wake of a series of terror attacks across Pakistan, security of Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail has been beefed up, with the deployment of two companies of Rangers.

According to the Daily Times, Adiala jail authorities had proposed the deployment of Rangers and Elite Force to ensure the safety of over 5,700 prisoners, including the Mumbai terror attacks suspects.

Sources said that the extra police force has been deputed around the jail, and visitors are being checked with metal detectors.

They jail is being monitored with16 close circuit TV cameras (CCTV).

The activities around the barracks of high profile terrorists are being monitored 24/7.

Jail authorities have reportedly erected barbed wires along the boundary wall and constructed concrete barracks on the road passing in front of the jail.

Sources added that the administration had also requested the Punjab IG police to provide sniffer dogs to comb the area around the jail two times a day.

“The private vehicles would not be allowed entry to the jail premises. The jail guards have been directed to check all the official vehicles and visitors. They have been also directed to scan the bags of visitors and the food items they bring for the prisoners,” Adiala Jail Superintendent Saeedullah Gondal said. (ANI)
