The report issued by the Conflict Monitoring Centre (CMC) said that among those killed in such attacks, 358 people (or 59 percent) were innocent civilians. The number of innocent people injured in those attacks accounted for 85 percent — or 856 people out of the total 1,002.
The army lost 33 soldiers while 100 personnel of the paramilitary Frontier Constabulary, and 54 policemen lost their lives in the suicide attacks, Xinhua reported.
In some strikes, more than one suicide bomber was used, said the Islamabad-based centre.
Among those injured were 44 armymen, 31 Frontier Constabulary personnel and 71 policemen.
The northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province saw the highest number of suicide attacks and deaths, the report said.
The highest number of suicide attacks in a single month was in March when militants carried out six attacks, killing 92 people.
The “deadliest month” of the year was May when 144 people died in four suicide attacks.
The report, however, said that in 2011 the number of deaths in suicide attacks declined by 48 percent compared to the previous year.
Comparing the situation with Afghanistan, the report said the number of suicide attacks in Afghanistan was 2.5 times higher than in Pakistan in 2011.
There were 102 suicide attacks in Afghanistan in which 675 people were killed.
