60 Lahore suspects held for attack on Lankan team

Lahore, Mar. 4 (ANI): As many as sixty suspects have been rounded up for questioning for their alleged role in the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team on Tuesday, a Pakistani TV channel has reported. Pakistani Police has detained many suspects here. Bomb disposable squad recovered dozens hand grenades, explosive materials, five suicide jackets, Kalashnikovs, and many bullets from eleven separate places in the city. Police teams have also seized three cars and a rickshaw believed to have been used by the terrorists during the ambush, Geo TV reported. Speaking to reporters here, Prime Minister Gilanis Interior Advisor Rehman Malik said the terrorists came from three sides to trap the Sri Lankan convoy. We will make sure these terrorists are punished. The police performed well and protected the players. The enemies of Pakistan want to destabilize the country, Malik further said. Channel sources claimed that Pakistans intelligence bureau had apprised the Punjab Government of possibility of terror attack on the Sri Lankan team. The Punjab Government has taken out advertisements in newspapers on Wednesday offering 126,000 dollars as reward for finding the terrorists. The advertisement features pictures of two alleged attackers carrying backpacks and guns. (ANI)
