35 killed in bus accident in Nepal

Kathmandu, July 15 (IANS) At least 35 people, most of them Indians, were killed in a road accident in western Nepal Sunday afternoon after the bus they were travelling by veered off the road and fell into a canal, police said.

The accident took place in Nawalparasi district when an overcrowded bus fell into the water while heading towards Triveni, a Hindu pilgrimage site, 100 km from capital Kathmandu, Xinhua quoted police superintendent Gyan Bikram Shah as saying.

The passengers were to participate in a Bolbum religious fair, he added.
