34 militants killed in Pakistan

Islamabad, Oct 21 (IANS) Thirty-four militants and three soldiers were killed in fighting in northwest Pakistan Thursday, Xinhua reported.
Eight other soldiers were injured in the clashes in Bara area of Khyber, the army said in a statement.
The fighting erupted when militants attacked the security forces while they were carrying out search operations.
The Khyber tribal region, near the Afghan border, is a stronghold of the Taliban militants.
