Dhaka, July 4 (IANS) At least 33 illegal migrants, including a number of students, from Bangladesh have been arrested in police operations launched across Britain.

The illegal migrants were arrested by the UK Border Agency (UKBA) and police in Middlesex, Gloucestershire, Dorset, Worcester, Wales, Merseyside and Cornwall, the Daily Star reported citing the British High Commission in Dhaka.

The men were working in restaurants and takeaways. They had committed several immigration offences including entering the country illegally, overstaying their visas and working illegally.

A spokesman for the UKBA said: “We will not tolerate illegal working, which undercuts wages and can exploit vulnerable workers. Foreign nationals who overstay their visas or otherwise abuse Britain’s immigration rules should be in no doubt that they will be found, arrested and removed from the country.”
