Lahore, June 19 (ANI): The Taliban has dispatched three suicide bombers to carry out attacks in Islamabad and Lahore, it has been revealed.
According to the Daily Times, one of the would-be suicide bombers, who was arrested earlier this month, has disclosed that the Taliban had sent two suicide bombers to Lahore and one to Islamabad to strike at important locations of the two cities.
Sources said all the three bombers are in their early 20’s, while one of them has a well-trimmed beard, another one, who is said to be 22-years-old is of Pashtun-descent with a long beard.
Following the disclosure, the concerned authorities have beefed up security in both the cities, and are keeping a tight vigil at every important nook and corner of the two mega-cities.
The police has also started an intense search operation following reports of about 30 explosive-laden vehicles entering different cities of Punjab province.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Home Secretary, Nadeem Hasan Asif, has asked the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to hunt down a female suicide bomber.
In his letter to law enforcement agencies, Asif has warned that a woman suicide bomber could target strategically important buildings or important personalities.
The female attacker is reportedly trained by the Eastern Turkistan Islami Party.
Asif also asked the concerned officials to beef up the security in and around key installations, as the Turkistan Party is reportedly planning to plant ‘pipe bombs’ in important buildings across the province. (ANI)
