25 killed in Pakistan polling station blast (Lead)
December 28th, 2008 - 6:58 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, Dec 28 (Xinhua) At least 25 people were killed in a blast at a polling station in a Pakistan province as voting was underway in a by-election to the assembly Sunday, TV channels reported.Private news channels Geo TV and the Express News TV reported that six children and some policemen were among the injured in the blast that ripped through a polling station in Buner district in North-West Frontier Province.
The reports quoted police sources as saying that the incident was a suicide attack.
Earlier report said an explosive device, planted inside the polling station, went off an hour after voting started.
The by-election was being held as the seat had fallen vacant due to the death of sitting member Abdul Matin Khan.
