24 Pakistanis kidnapped during tribal festival
March 23rd, 2011 - 12:59 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, March 23 (IANS) At least 24 Pakistani tribesmen were kidnapped by militants during a local festival in the northwestern region bordering Afghanistan, a media report said Wednesday.
A weekly tribal festival was being celebrated Tuesday in Baggan area of Lower Kurram Agency, when militants belonging to the Sattar group of Waziristan attacked and abducted 20 people, the Dawn News reported. They also took away 14 vehicles, it added.
Later, four more people were picked up by militants in the same area.
The tribesmen termed the kidnappings as “tragic” and asked the government to take notice of the violation of a peace agreement in the region, the report said.
