17 Indian fishermen held for violating Pakistani waters

Karachi, April 14 (IANS) Seventeen Indian fishermen were arrested Wednesday for violating Pakistan’s territorial waters, the Maritime Security Agency said.
Three fishing boats were also seized.

The fishermen would be handed over to the Karachi police, Online news agency quoted the Maritime Security Agency as saying.

Pakistan and India arrest dozens of fishermen every year for violating each others maritime boundaries and many of them languish in jail for years.

A total of 570 Indian nationals, including 510 fishermen, are currently in Pakistani jails, according to information recently provided to parliament.
