14 Pakistani soldiers die in ambush (Lead)
March 29th, 2011 - 4:28 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, March 29 (IANS) Atleast 14 Pakistani soldiers, including a Colonel, were killed in a militant ambush Monday night, a media report said.
The incident occurred when militants attacked security forces in Akakhel area of Khyber Agency, a tribal area that falls in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
The soldiers, including a captain and colonel, died as a mortar shell landed near them, Dawn reported.
Security forces have been conducting an operation in the area for past several days and have arrested a number of rebels, sources said.
