14 killed as suicide bomber targets Pakistan Army centre (Lead)

Peshawar, Feb 10 (IANS) At least 14 people, mostly soldiers, were killed and many injured Thursday when a suicide bomber attacked a Pakistan Army centre in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.The blast took place in Mardan town inside the Punjab Regiment Centre, a unit of the Pakistani Army, a TV report said.
Witnesses said that the massive blast took place near an area where soldiers were undergoing training, army sources told Xinhua.
Mardan is about 50 km northeast of Peshawar.
Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack, sources said.
Residents said they heard the deafening explosion and ambulances were seen speeding to the blast site.
