Islamabad, Apr 11 (ANI): Eleven suicide attacks carried out by terrorists have killed 155 people and wounded over 340 others in the first three months of 2011 in Pakistan, a Conflict Monitoring Centre (CMC) report has said.

Out of those figures, 85 people were killed and 179 others were injured in six different suicide attacks in March 2011 alone, The Nation reports.

The report by an Islamabad based independent research organisation that focuses on armed conflicts in South Asia is based on the incidents reported in mainstream national media organisations.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained the worst hit area during the three-month period as nine suicide attacks were carried out in the province killing 143 people and leaving 256 others wounded.

Besides, militants have reportedly killed 37 people and injured 117 others in three different suicide attacks in January, while 33 persons were killed and 45 others received injuries in two such incidents in February.

The militants had intensified their suicide attacks last month, targeting mainly the civilian population at the public rallies of religious parties. (ANI)
