10 abducted, six vehicles torched in Pakistan
July 18th, 2011 - 12:52 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, July 18 (IANS) Ten people were kidnapped and six vehicles were set afire by armed men who attacked a convoy of truck’s in Pakistan’s northwest.
The attack took place Sunday on Thall-Parachinar Road in lower Kurram Agency, reported the daily Dawn.
The convoy was going from Parachinar to the south and it was stopped near Charkhel village by gunmen. The assailants kidnapped 10 drivers and cleaners and set the vehicles on fire.
Officials said it could have been a reaction to an attack on a passenger van near Parachinar Saturday, in which 10 people were killed and three were injured.
Security forces are currently carrying out an operation in central Kurram to flush out terrorists.
