Mar 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A notorious infected network of PCs was successfully disconnected from the web but the relief is only temporary as experts have said. This happened as a blacklisted Internet service provider was disconnected from the Internet. A large section of the PCs connected to the infamous Zeus botnet were disabled. Zeus is a Trojan horse and it also means a network of infected PCS worldwide and the experts are divided in their opinion regarding the exact number of PCs affected by it. It has spread its tentacles in almost every country that has access to the internet.
A web site has been set up to keep track of Zeus’s activities and it has found out that close to 249 servers control this network. The number however has fallen to 181 by now. Scansafe, a security firm reported a drop in malware infections in web of late. It has occurred as two ISPs in Russia and Ukraine have restricted access to the downstream users. One of these ISPs is said to be the chief providers catering to the Zeus servers. It is not yet clear why the ISPs took such a move, as a lot of harmless and bona fide customers also suffered owing to the move.
However, the benefit appears to be short lived as the Zeus infected servers have found other ISPs to get back into action. The Zeus Trojan is notorious for helping criminals stealing online data such as banking passwords and usernames. The people behind its creation and spread seem to be connected through a massive network.
