Youtube launches widescreen
November 25th, 2008 - 2:39 pm ICT by Bupha RavirotYoutube has officially changed the size and aspects of video player on its website, unveiled Nov, 24.
Because most videos on the site were originally uploaded in a ratio closer to 4:3 (the standard size of non-HD televisions), most videos are playing with horizontal black bars on the side. Some videos are taking advantage of the full space, but are shrunk down to the normal size when they’re embedded elsewhere.
The screen format is changed into widescreen aspect ratio with the width 960 pixels where 16:9 videos will be perfectly fit in. The change creates better reflect the quality of the videos you create and the screens that you use to watch them. It is expected to give a cleaner, more powerful viewing experience.
However, youtube widescreen format also supports the standard 4:3 aspect ratio videos, they will appear inset.
Users can have wide screen video player as then click activate when YouTube’s “watch in high quality” appears.
