Virgin Galactic space ship Oct 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A crucial step was made this week in the attempt by Virgin Galactic to develop the world’s first manned space flights which will be open the the public for space tourism. The ‘SpaceShipTwo’, also called the ‘VSS Enterprise’ was able to carry out a manned free flight at over 45000 feet.

The spaceship was released from the “mothership” at the altitude of 45000 feet, and the co pilots Mike Asbury and Pete Siebold flew free and were able to glide back to make their landing at the Mojave Air and Space Port in California. While carrying out the flight, they were able to check the system’s performance as well.

The CEO for Virgin Galactic, George Whitesides stated in a press release on the company website

“To see the world’s first manned commercial spaceship landing on a runway is a sight I always dreamed I would behold. “Now, our challenge going forward will be to complete our experimental program, obtain our FAA license and safely bring the system into service at Spaceport America, New Mexico.”
